By any other name, it's still a scam

Well, no need for this to go to waste. Click for full size.

Here's why crowdsourcing is a scam and unfair to people with marketable skills.

Consider this scenario.
  • You show a comp to a client.

  • You discuss the comp and are asked to produce it on a rush job.

  • You produce the custom piece to specification within 24 hours.

  • A week later, the client realizes there is a technical problem on his end and your work cannot be used.

  • As an agency or freelancer, you bill the client for your time and have legal recourse if they don't pay.

As a sucker 'crowdsource' victim, you get screwed and have no recourse.

I'm not making up this example--that’s what happened to me when I stupidly broke my own 'no contests' rule.
